Firefighters tackle blaze in ground floor flat caused by dog treats left on hob

Firefighters from the Bath and Hicks Gate fire stations tackled a blaze at a property in Bath yesterday morning, believed to have been caused by dog treats being left on a hob.

Emergency services were called to the scene on New King Street in Bath at 8.24am yesterday morning, Thursday 2nd May.

On arrival, firefighters discovered a fire in a ground floor flat and forced entry.

Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used one high-pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire.

They also used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots, and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property.

The cause is thought to be accidental, and crews remained on scene to deliver fire safety advice.

Avon Fire & Rescue is using the incident to offer advice on kitchen fire safety, which can be found here: https://www.avonfire.gov.uk/safety-advice/fire-safety/kitchen-safety.
