The Pondsmead Nursing and Residential Home near Bath has been acquired by Avon Care Homes Group, thanks to support from NatWest.
The business provides end of life and residential care for up to 76 residents and sits within a 19th century former mansion house in Oakhill, near Bath.
The home’s previous owners brought in Avon Care Homes in 2016 to manage and drive up standards.
Shortly after, the company was offered full sale of the business, including the premises.
Pondsmead will be the sixth care home to come under the ownership of Avon Care Homes, which has more than 20 years’ experience in the sector. Led by founder, Mrs Cristina Bila, the Group has significant investment plans for the business.
In addition to upskilling the existing team of 40, Avon Care Homes will employ an additional 20 staff.
The home will also undergo significant improvements to reflect the ethos and style of Avon Care Homes as premium provider of care.
Commenting on the acquisition, Mrs Bila, said: “I am thrilled with the acquisition of Pondsmead. Over the years we’ve created a portfolio of individual and stylish homes, set in tranquil environments.
“We pride ourselves on our provision of care, taking a person-centred approach to all our residents. Pondsmead is no different and we will strive to continually improve the home and provide an excellent service for the area.”
Rich McNairn, Relationship Director at NatWest, said: “Avon Care Homes has a strong track record of delivering high-quality care to residents across the south west.
“I have no doubt they’ll make a success of the Pondsmead home, which has already seen substantial improvements in care since they took on management in 2016.”
