Anne and Eric Pelling, founders of the Bath home care company Butterfly, along with Anne’s children Ben and Hannah, have recently completed a gruelling four-day charity bike ride from the city to Paris.
The event was organised by the local charity Sporting Family Change which supports vulnerable families through sport and physical activities.
It also mentors children and young adults to empower and inspire them to follow a positive path in life.
Ben Wicks, Butterfly’s business development and facilities manager, said: “This is a charity particularly close to our hearts. It is one I have also volunteered with while I was at university.
“I have seen first hand the difference they make to young peoples’ lives. That’s why we as a family believe it’s important to do what we can to help those who are vulnerable in society.
“The event has raised almost £16,000. While we know the funds will be put to good use, for everyone involved it was equally as important to focus on making the south west community aware of the important work Sporting Family Change does.
“The ride was good fun, physically demanding and emotionally draining too!”
The 240 mile ride took the family four days to complete. They were part of a team of 31 cyclists who were assisted by two support vehicles.
Families who have been helped by the charity, along with charity staff, also made up the group.
Butterfly was set up eight years ago by Anne Pelling who had a long and distinguished career as a carer.
Today a team of 70 care for people in their own homes across Bath & Wiltshire. Butterfly has a reputation a reputation for best practice in home care and has been accredited by Investors In People.
