A leading West Country law firm with offices in Bath has collapsed into administration.

The BLB Solicitors offices on George Street in Bath

Clients of BLB Solicitors, based at Edgar Buildings in George Street, are facing uncertainty following the shock announcement.

The award-winning firm also has offices in Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge, Bristol, Almondsbury and Swindon, and its services include conveyancing, family law, wills and probate, commercial property, employment law, and personal injury and medical negligence.

A message on the company’s website says: “We regret to confirm that BLB Solicitors Limited will cease to trade and be placed into administration with effect from midday on 30 April 2026.

“Please direct any enquiries to [email protected], and we will respond as soon as we are able.”

A letter to clients dated 28th April gives the reason as the anticipated sale of the business being “withdrawn at short notice”.

It says: “We understand that we have ongoing litigation matters with you and therefore wished to inform you of the position at the earliest opportunity.

“We are notifying all our clients of the current position. Please rest assured we are already in the process of putting your file(s) and documents together to ensure a swift and smooth transfer.

“We would encourage you to instruct replacement solicitors so we can assist with the smooth handover of your file(s). Any funds held on client account will be returned to you at the earliest opportunity.”

The letter also says the firm is “actively engaging with other interested parties”.
