Plans have been unveiled to turn a hotel in Keynsham into housing.

The property is currently used as a hotel

Hayward’s at the Grasmere currently provides bed and breakfast accommodation in 14 en-suite bedrooms and has a restaurant, bar and function room.

The building, on the corner of Bath Road and Chandag Road, is made up of two large Victorian semi-detached properties that have been extended.

An outline application has been submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council by Haywards Group Ltd to demolish the existing rear and side extensions and change the hotel into eight flats, as well as build a separate two-bed mews house to the rear which would be accessed from a new drive from Chandag Road.

The plans show there would be two two-bedroom flats and a one-bed flat on the ground floor of the building. On the first floor, four one-bed flats are proposed, while at loft level there would be another two-bed flat.

A total of 10 off-street parking spaces are shown on the plans, one being for the new mews property, with the existing access being kept for nine parking spaces at the front of the building.

The proposal also provides dedicated storage for two cycle parking spaces per home.

The planning reference is 26/01390/OUT and the deadline for comments is 12th May.
