Bristol Airport and KLM have been announced as joint sponsors of The Tour Series 2017 cycle event when it comes to Bath on Saturday 20th May.

Bath will host the first ever Saturday night stage of The Tour Series and the Matrix Fitness Women’s Grand Prix with a brand new city centre route, starting and finishing on Great Pulteney Street.

Details of the new Love 2 Cycle Bath and North East Somerset Sportive, also supported by Bristol Airport and KLM, have also been revealed.

The sportive will take place on the morning of 20th May and will start in Royal Avenue, before taking in the country lanes of the Chew and Somer Valleys, before the cyclists return to the City for a unique finish under the Tour Series gantry on Great Pulteney Street.

Olympic gold medallist Dani King is the Ambassador for the Bath round of the Tour Series and the Love 2 Cycle Bath and North East Somerset Sportive.

As her role as Ambassador Dani wants  to encourage as many people as possible to choose cycling as either a leisure activity or as a way of commuting to work in Bath and North East Somerset and hopefully take part in some of the cycling events that are planned for 20th May.

Maps of the routes and how to enter can be found at www.bathnes.gov.uk/tourseries.

Robert Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer, Bristol Airport said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with KLM to support The Tour Series when it visits Bath on 20 May 2017.

“To have such a high profile sporting event taking place in the centre of Bath will provide the opportunity for race-goers or visitors to the event to enjoy the attractions and hospitality Bath and the surrounding area has to offer.

“We are particularly excited about the new Love 2 Cycle Sportive which will travel through the Chew Valley very near to the airport.”

Councillor Tim Warren (Conservative, Mendip), Leader of the Council, said: “It’s great to welcome Bristol Airport and KLM on board as sponsors for the Tour Series once again. This builds on a successful partnership we’ve developed over the past few years.”

Alastair Grant – Sweetspot Commercial Director, said: “We are thrilled to hear that the Council’s partnership with Bristol Airport and KLM will continue, helping to spread the word far and wide about the race in May, and the new sportive.”

The Tour Series starts in Worcestershire on 9th May, and finishes on 29th May in Stevenage.

Highlights of every round will be shown on ITV4, with programmes also available on demand via the ITV Hub.
