A Bath business has planned a whole year of fundraising activities to support local charity Jessie May, which cares for terminally ill children within their own homes.
Datasharp Integrated Communications, which is based at Bath Business Park and specialises in Unified Communications through leading technology, has already donated £1000 to the cause following some early fundraising events held by employees.
Now staff are in training to complete the upcoming Tough Mudder challenge in August in a bid to raise more funds for Jessie May, which provides support to families in Bath, as well as Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
Datasharp Integrated Communications has also signed up to Jessie May’s Caring at Work scheme which asks local businesses to raise £1000 over the course of a year, a challenge which has already been completed by the end of February.
Matt Delargy, head of sales at Datasharp Integrated Communications, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Jessie May this year. It is a fantastic local charity doing great work to care for and provide much needed medical and emotional advice and support to families going through a very difficult time.
“We’re pleased to have gotten off to a good start with our £1000 donation and we’re really looking forward to raising much more over the next year.
“A team of us are in training now for Tough Mudder, a daunting prospect but one I’m sure we’ll enjoy once there!
“We’ve also planned several other events throughout the year for all staff and contacts to get involved in.”
Jessie May cares for children with terminal illness within their own homes in Bristol, Bath, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Wiltshire. It costs around £1,200,000 to provide this care yearly and as the charity is almost entirely dependent on public support fundraisers like this are essential.
Lindsey Horton, corporate partnership officer at Jessie May, said: “A huge thank you to all at Datasharp Integrated Communications for their wonderful support so far this year. They are really throwing themselves into the fundraising and taking on lots of exciting challenges as a way to help Jessie May and we’re very grateful.
“Datasharp Integrated Communications are one of our vital Caring at Work supporters and we’re always looking for more local businesses to join in with this scheme, so if you’re interested in committing to raising £1000 for Jessie May with your workplace, please get in touch!
“We rely on the support of local businesses and organisations like Datasharp to continue supplying Jessie May nurses to families who need us.”
