Bath Rugby flanker Mat Gilbert joined Father Christmas and the Bath Rugby Foundation team to give out presents to children from The PAT Centre at the RUH this week.

The Children and their families were also joined at the annual Christmas party by the Time is Precious charity, who work with hospital specialists, to purchase much needed equipment to help children and their families whilst in hospital

Nikki Greenwood, Therapy Support Worker at The PAT Centre said: “We were so pleased to be supported by Bath Rugby Foundation, Louise Harvey and Time is Precious and for the lovely party they gave to our children who at present are being seen in the Pre-school Assessment and Therapy Centre here in the children’s Centre of the RUH. A huge thank you to all that made it such a special day.”

Fresh from Bath United’s Aviva A League win, Bath Rugby player Mat Gilbert said: “It’s always really lovely, especially at this time of year, to visit the children at The PAT Centre at the RUH.

“It was really inspiring to meet them all and their families.  I think I only made one or two of the children cry while handing out the presents, which was a better record than Santa!”

The PAT Centre are a highly specialist team within RUH, which includes Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapist, Therapy Support Workers, Dieticians, Paediatricians and administrative staff.

They work with children from birth to school entry age with a combination of difficulties, such as a physical disability, hearing impairment or sensory difficulties.
