A PA from Bath-based Epoch Wealth Management has raised £4,650 for children with life-limiting conditions by scaling Africa’s highest mountain.
Helen Witcombe climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise much-needed funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) which supports young people who have a shortened life expectancy and their families.
Helen’s epic adventure saw her travelling to Tanzania where she spent six days trekking to the top of Kilimanjaro which is 5,895 metres high (19,341ft above sea level).
Climbers attempting the challenge can endure temperatures as low as -20C at the peak, as well as 70mph winds and oxygen at 50 per cent of normal levels.
Helen said: “The trek was hard going in places but so worthwhile. Having spent just over four days climbing to the summit, reaching the peak was an amazing feeling and knowing that I was helping to raise thousands for Children’s Hospice South West really spurred me on.
“I’m really grateful to all those who sponsored me for helping to raise funds for such a deserving cause. I’ll probably leave my adventuring for a little while now though!”
