Four fire engines and a turntable ladder were called to deal with a fire at the Adventure Cafe, which has offices above, in George Street in the early hours of this morning.
When crews arrived on scene at 2.45am, they found a fire on the ground floor of the four storey building.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire.
A positive pressure ventilation fan was then used to clear the smoke. Fortunately nobody was hurt.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
Police are looking into the potential cause as arson. Forensic teams are at the scene.
Firefighters tackled a second fire in a cafe in Bath at 6.30am this morning at The Bridge Coffee Shop on Pulteney Bridge.
It is thought to have started accidentally after a hob with items on top was switched on by mistake.
