Following on from the success of the Guildhall Wedding Open Day over the last three years, another free open day has been announced on Sunday 26 February.

At the event at the Guildhall, Bath, staff from the Bath Register Office will be on hand to show visitors the rooms available for ceremonies and receptions. Visitors will also have the chance to find out more details about the legal preliminaries to marriage and civil partnerships and a selection of caterers and wedding suppliers will exhibit in the stunning Georgian Banqueting Room.

Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Superintendent Registrar Alison Manning said: “There is a lot to organise when you are planning a marriage or a civil partnership. This Guildhall Open Day will be a brilliant opportunity to meet the experts, see the rooms available for ceremonies, witness mock ceremonies and meet with wedding suppliers and caterers all in one place.

“I would invite anyone planning a ceremony to join us in the Guildhall on Sunday 26 February, at 11am. I can guarantee you will find the event very informative and enjoyable; it might even encourage those ladies who are contemplating proposing to their partners in this leap year, to pop the question!”

The event is open to all and members of the public can just turn up on the day. Any visitors who register their details on the day will be eligible for a 10% discount from Bath Register Office and a 10% reduction on room hire at the Guildhall from Bath’s Historic Buildings (terms and conditions apply).

All those who register their details will be automatically entered into a free prize draw. The top prize is a complimentary civil ceremony in a room in the Guildhall, along with a Registrar to perform a civil ceremony. Other prizes include a half day spa treatment from The Royal Crescent with a two course lunch, an engagement photo shoot with 20×16-inch canvas from Nick Williams Photography, and a selection of runner up prizes supplied by exhibitors on the day.

One couple who attended last year’s Wedding Open Day, and subsequently booked a ceremony, commented: “We both found the day extremely useful and informative. Having only ever been to church weddings the idea of a mock ceremony during the event was truly inspired. We both thought that it was very well done and helped us in the whole process. All the staff were very helpful and friendly.”
