Bath’s SouthGate shopping centre has donated £5,000 to City of Bath College’s music department so it can refit and update one of its recording studios.
The College and SouthGate, Bath have a close working relationship, with many students from the College’s BA1 Records label supporting charity events and busking at the shopping centre.
The College’s music department already boasts state-of-the-art recording and rehearsal rooms but the extra cash will help to re-fit one of the recording studios with the very latest industry kit, including a top of the range mixing desk.
Ginny Saunders, music lecturer, said: “This is a great gesture by SouthGate, Bath and will enable us to ensure our students can benefit from using the very latest in music recording technology.
“BA1 Records, the College’s own record label, regularly supports events at SouthGate, Bath and we’ve built up an excellent relationship with them.
“Everyone at the College is extremely grateful for this donation, which will significantly improve the learning experience and recording output of students from the College.”
Charles Barratt, Deputy General Manager at SouthGate, Bath, said: “We are very pleased to be working with City of Bath College’s Music Department and look forward to continuing the working relationship we have and seeing more of the students’ performances here at SouthGate, Bath.”
