King Edward’s School on North Road, described as one of Bath’s finest independents, has become the latest victim of lead theft, with a large police presence in the area yesterday evening after a theft from the school site roofing.

The force’s helicopter Quebec 99 lifted from its base in Filton to attend the scene and try to locate the thieves, as well as see the extent of the damage to the roof.

The police were making enquiries around the school and within the surrounding houses. If you have any information regarding this, contact Avon and Somerset Police on the non-emergency number 101.

This theft follows a dramatic drama at the end of November when lead thieves were caught in Royal Victoria Park stripping lead off the bandstand roof. CCTV operators were able to call in officers who swiftly apprehended the three men.
