Taking it personally is the key to a successful relationship between client and solicitor, says the new partner at Bath-based Mogers, Nicola Owen.
Nicola, who will be 39 next month, has just joined the Queen Square firm from Thrings in Bath and has specialised in private client work for 14 years after qualifying in 1998.
She is delighted to join the family firm saying: “I really admired the practice. It is a Bath-based firm which has established roots in Bath.”
The mother-of-one is joining the private client team specialising in will writing, inheritance tax planning, estate administration, powers of attorney, deputyships and care advice.
She said: “I love private client work. I like being able to advise people on getting their affairs in order and being able to save them tax when they don’t need to pay it especially in business and agriculture.
“We find out what the personal circumstances of a client are and we are prepared to go the extra mile. We look at the whole family; we don’t look at the client in isolation. We have to look at their future, their parents and their children and look at their situation as a whole.
“It is important to have something in place for the here and now. Once it has been done, you can review it and review it as many times as you like but something is ready should the worst happen and you are never too young to start planning.
“Quite often people will put this type of work to the back of their minds but they face problems if they don’t deal with it as it can be worse and more expensive later on.”
Steven Treharne, managing partner, said: “I am delighted that Nikki has joined Mogers as a partner . She brings a wealth of legal experience and expertise coupled with a creative instinct to client problem solving which is a Mogers hallmark.
“Nikki is well known within the City, with a reputation for delivering exemplary client service. She is already proving to be a considerable asset with her fresh approach, ideas and energy which ultimately is focused on making our clients lives easier.”
