Former Head of CID Detective Chief Superintendent Louisa Rolfe has been appointed as a new Assistant Chief Constable for Avon and Somerset Police.
Louisa has been with Avon and Somerset throughout her 22 year police career working in both uniform and detective roles across the force area.
As an Inspector, Louisa led the Central Bristol Neighbourhood Team and, as a Detective Chief Inspector, she led North Somerset CID before becoming a Staff Officer to the Chief Constable.
Louisa has also led a number of high profile murder investigations and collaboration projects including Zephyr – the South West’s regional serious and organised crime team.
She has led projects to raise awareness around violence against women and girls and has improved force performance rates in tackling these crimes.
She has also been an ambassador for the sexual assault referral centre (SARC).
Louisa maintains her passion for investigative work and has carried out external investigations for the IPCC and other police forces.
She said: “I feel privileged to take up this post in Avon and Somerset and feel truly passionate about the area and its communities.
“I am joining a great team and look forward to working with them and all the challenges and opportunities it will bring.”
Chief Constable Nick Gargan said: “Given the challenging period that lies ahead it was extremely important to be able to appoint a top quality officer to this role. I look forward to working with Louisa and wish her well as she begins her career as a Chief Officer.”
The panel was chaired by the Chief Constable, Police and Crime Commissioner and an Independent Lay member.
