The boots of 16 members of staff from Bath-based Mogers Solicitors were made for walking as they took part in the Forever Friends’ Appeal’s Walk of Life from Devizes to the city.
The Queen Square based firm has adopted the appeal to raise cash for a new cancer centre at Bath’s Royal United Hospital as its charity of the year and also sponsored the Walk of Life.
Rebecca Silcock, partner at Mogers, led the team which also included legal assistant Melanie Hunter, who shaved her hair off to boost funds and mark five years since being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Rebecca said: “We were fortunate that it was a glorious day for walking and the route along the Kennet and Avon canal was beautiful.
“There aren’t many who go through life untouched by cancer which is why we adopted the appeal as our charity of the year; all of us know someone who has been affected directly or indirectly by the disease.
“We were also proud to sponsor the event which is a celebration of the life and memories of loved ones and supporting the appeal is just one way in which we are there for the community.
“We are delighted that by taking part in the walk the Mogers’ team has already raised more than £1,000 for this worth-while cause.”
The walk was created with, and in memory, of Vanessa Kyte, who died from cancer in 2007. It started at Devizes Wharf and passed through Bradford on Avon before ending at Sydney Gardens in Bath.
