Avon and Somerset Police and B&NES Council officers are reminding off-licences in Bath of their responsibilities about not selling alcohol to under-age people in the run-up to Christmas.
Today they will be visiting off-licences across the county to emphasise to managers and staff that firm action will be taken against any premises found breaking the law.
Staff can face fines and businesses have their licence revoked for serious breaches.
Local Bath police licensing officer Martin Purhase said: “The laws against selling alcohol to under-18s are clear and are there to protect young people. Alcohol can lead to crime and anti-social behaviour, and we expect off-licences to abide by the regulations.”
If you know of any underage selling you can report it to Avon and Somerset Police or B&NES Council.
