Following the huge success of the first Bath Startup Weekend in June, a further three events are being scheduled over the next 18 months, the first on the weekend of 2nd-4th November.
Bath and North East Somerset Council and Bath Ventures have continued their support with the event and there are already 20 sponsored delegate places for Bath University students and Eden Ventures are also sponsoring the event.
Bath Startup Weekend #2 is a weekend-long, hands-on experience where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.
Startup Weekend is a not-for-profit event with organisers, mentors, speakers and judges giving their time free of charge. The cost of the event is covered in part by tickets sales, with the majority of the costs paid for by sponsorship.
On Friday evening, participants that wish to have 60 seconds to make a pitch, the pitches are whittled down to the top ideas, and then teams form around the ideas. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a Minimal Viable Product. Finally, the weekend culminates with demonstrations in front of an audience of judges and potential investors.
The ticket includes all meals, snacks, as much tea and coffee as you can drink.
The venue will be open for the entire duration of the event and teams and individuals that want to can work on their ideas day and night.
