A popular bar and restaurant on the Lower Bristol Road in Bath is a burnt out shell this morning after a devastating fire overnight at the premises.
Banglo, described as one of the most versatile party venues in the city, had recently undergone a renovation for an expected relaunch in a couple of months.
The fire took hold of the premises just before 3am.
A number of fire engines from the Bath station attended the scene with firefighters using breathing apparatus and high power jets to battle the blaze.
The fire has been deemed as arson and a man has been charged. (Update story available)
Local resident Clare McEwan-Obi was in the Green Park Tavern next door at the time of the fire. She told NOW Bath that the GPT’s bouncers and staff alerted the drinkers to the scene, shouting to them to “get out, next door’s on fire”.
Clare went on to tell us: “When we got out it was literally blazing. You could feel the heat from by the car garage.”
The restaurant, a family run business, was set to re-open in July as a dedicated venue for hosting parties, with private bookings being their main focus.
