A spate of anti-social behaviour over the past couple of weeks in Bathford has prompted a reward of £500 for the number of offenders’ names & addresses or information that will bring the culprits of the anti-social behaviour to justice.
The recent trouble at the village, three miles east of Bath, started just over two weeks ago after anti-social behaviour by a number of offenders was seen on the local playing field and reported by various local residents to Avon and Somerset police.
There have also been instances over the past few weeks of motor cycles being ridden up the main footpath on the playing field within Bathford, something which has previously been dealt with by the use of a by-law which has been in place for many years which makes the prosecution of offenders easier as the police are given powers to confiscate and crush the nuisance motorbikes.
More recent incidents of anti-social behaviour came on Thursday night when the offenders tipped a planted container full of flowers and the contents of a waste bin all over the village green. Neighbours nearby once again called the police, and though there was a speedy response, the officers just missed the culprits who are then thought to have caught the 10-30 bus into the City Centre from the Crown pub having vacated the green after the quick presence of the police.
The most recent activity by the offenders came just last night (Saturday) when there were fireworks set off on the village green as it was going dark – again the police were contacted, and the offenders were described as ‘young people’.
Vandalism of the bus stop area in Bathford has also occurred – prompting the large reward for information to find the offenders and have them dealt with for their criminal damage and nuisance to the local residents of the village.
It has been suggested that the offenders involved may be local young people who have recently left school; with an age range of around 16.
Any information about the anti-social behaviour or the identities of the people involved are sought for the prevention and halting of the behaviour, and if you have information regarding this then it is requested that you contact PCSO Greg Doyle and PCSO Mike Simmonds at Avon and Somerset Police on 0845 456 7000 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
