This week, The Pig is mostly…

LOVIN’ the little grey cells workout that is The Grapes virtual pub quiz, every Monday evening at 8pm. Is there a Food and Drink round? Of course there is! Am I hosting it? If that hasn’t given you enough of a clue to work with, you’ll have to DM The Grapes for a Zoom code (@thegrapesbath), join in and find out, won’t you? (https://thegrapesbath.co.uk)

ABSOLUTELY delighted to see Lovejoys – a fifth-generation family-run wholesaler specialising in the very best south-west produce (fruit, vegetables, dairy, bakery, pantry goods and more) – back open for business… and flaunting a shiny new website to boot! Welcome back, lovely Lovejoys: you have been sorely missed (https://www.lovejoyswholesale.com)

STROLLING around the city centre on my daily walk, picking up coffee from Mokoko (SouthGate) before properly perfect gelato from The Real Italian Ice Cream Parlour (York Street) as I go – yup, two of our favourite independent businesses are back open for (social distancing) business; hoorah!

VERY happy that The Scallop Shell (Monmouth Place) has made like the The Oyster Shell (Moorland Road) and reopened for click’n’collect/delivery services (pre-order only). Top tip: if you get your timings right, there’s Dorset Lobster on the menu… (https://www.thescallopshell.co.uk)

ALERTING all Afternoon Tea fans to Homewood’s new click’n’collect takeaway tea service, available Monday-Friday. Full Afternoon Tea £20pp; Cream Tea just £10 – email [email protected] no later than 4pm the day before to place your order. And while we’re hanging out at Homewood, bear this in mind: all profits from their fabulous Friday fish’n’chip suppers and their rollickin’ Sunday roast kits go direct to very good causes  (https://www.homewoodbath.co.uk)

APPLAUDING the team behind Dexter’s Coffee Shop (St George’s Place, Bathwick Hill) for forging ahead with their plans during such troubled times and announcing that a takeaway service from their handsome new HQ will go live within the next few weeks (https://dexterscoffeeshop.com)

EAGERLY anticipating collecting fish and chips, burger and chips and/or spicy pulled lamb kebab pittas and chips (and yes, there is good reason to mention those chips three times) from The White Hart (Widcombe) on a Saturday evening. Collection only, between 5.30-8.30pm; email orders to [email protected] (https://www.whitehartbath.co.uk)
