Bath Spa University has successfully mets the expectations of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for UK Higher Education.
The QAA recently conducted an Institutional Review of the University which is the QAA’s review method for universities and other higher education institutions in England and Northern Ireland.
It involved a thorough evaluation of the University’s educational provision and a report of the findings has now been published.
The report identifies certain key areas on which the University was reviewed including academic standards, enhancement of student learning opportunities, information about learning opportunities and the quality of student learning opportunities.
All were found to meet the QAA’s expectation of quality and standards for UK universities.
A number of areas at Bath Spa were identified as good practice by the QAA review team:
- The University’s approach to employability, including the professional practice opportunities available to students;
- Good use of external advisors for course approval and periodic review processes;
- The way in which the University responds to its external examiners;
- The extensive feedback given to students on subject specific matters following the annual National Student Survey and the University’s internal survey.
Commenting on the University’s success in retaining the QAA Quality Mark, Vice-Chancellor Professor Christina Slade said: “Retaining the QAA Quality Mark demonstrates our commitment to academic rigour, providing an excellent experience and good career development opportunities for our students.
“At Bath Spa we put our students at the heart of everything we do and are pleased that the QAA Institutional Review recognised those efforts.”
