The A36 Lower Bristol Road near Twerton has been closed in both directions following a fatal collision in the early hours of this morning, police have said.
At just before 3am, a car was in collision with a warehouse building on the Lower Bristol Road, near the First Bus depot, at the junction of Rackfield Place and close to Twerton Park.
A woman has sadly died as a result of this collision.
Due to the extent of the damage to the vehicle, the road is likely to remain closed for several hours while the scene is fully examined and then cleared.

Insp Chris Kedward said: “It’s a particularly challenging scene due to the damage caused, but we’re doing everything we can to re-open the road as soon as possible.
“It’s likely the road will remain closed in its entirety for the rest of the morning but we’re prioritising work which would allow buses to leave the nearby depot.
“We know this closure has had a significant impact on bus services in the city and we’re working closely with First bus and appreciate their continuing support.”
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes into and out of the city.
The Lower Bristol Road fully is closed between Windsor Bridge Road / Brook Road and the A4 Newbridge Road (Twerton Fork).
Bus services across Bath have been significantly affected as buses are not able to leave the First Bus depot, and police are advising anyone who normally travels by bus along the route to visit the First Bus website for updates.
