In line with the national trend, Bath Spa University students continue to be satisfied with their student experience.
The University scored 87 per cent overall in the National Student Survey (NSS), an increase from 83 per cent last year and higher than the national average of 85 per cent.
Bath Spa also saw improved scores for teaching (89 per cent), personal development (83 per cent), learning resources (83 per cent), academic support (81 per cent), organisation and management (77 per cent) and assessment and feedback (74 per cent).
All were above or around the national average. In total, students scored Bath Spa higher in 20 out of the 21 questions asked compared to last year.
Bath Spa puts a strong emphasis on the student experience and on preparing students for future employment. Professor Christina Slade became Vice-Chancellor last year and her new vision and strategy for the University is reflected in the survey results.
Commenting on the survey she said: “We provide a vibrant and creative environment for students where they can develop their talents and fulfil their academic potential. They benefit from exceptional teaching, and last year we welcomed many illustrious and inspirational figures from the worlds of literature, music and art to our academic community.
“We are investing in the future for our students with a major new academic building and residential accommodation due to open next year.
“We work closely with our Students’ Union to listen to and act upon student feedback. I am pleased that our students have recognised these efforts and we will continue to find ways of enhancing their university experience.”
Around 304,000 final-year students responded to the NSS survey this year, from 154 HEIs and 165 FECs from across the UK. This represents a response rate of 68.6 per cent, the highest rate in the nine years that the NSS has been running.
The results of the survey, conducted by Ipsos MORI, provide valuable information for prospective students, and help universities and colleges to further improve the education they provide.
