Bath Rugby Ladies have successfully doubled the size of their squad in just a few months, thanks to a recruitment drive and connections with the University of Bath.

This weekend, a friendly was organised to allow all of the new ladies to get a taste for a proper game without the pressure of it being a Championship League game.

Unfortunately, the opposition pulled out very last minute, and with no local teams available to step in, the Ladies had to resort to playing XVs against each other.

After pulling out ancient kit from storage, the ladies split the game into 3rds with most people trying out new positions in each 3rd.  The new ladies were extremely impressive and were not afraid to get well and truly stuck in – they put everything they have learnt in training into practice.

One of Bath’s new recruit, Zoe, said “I had great fun today and learnt a lot, so thank you. When can we do it again!?”

If anyone is looking to try a new sport, or just want to come and give rugby a go, do go along to any training session.

They will be organising more friendlies very soon. The team trains on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Lambridge Training Grounds, BA1 6BD from 18:45. For more info, follow Bath Rugby Ladies on Facebook and Twitter or email Sarah at [email protected].
