Round-up of the local hockey action – Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February.

Team Bath Buccaneers men’s 1st XI held a 2-0 lead over their Fareham counterparts, only to lose 3-2. But the Buccs’ women’s 1st XI found that a similar lead over Cheltenham 1st XI was enough for victory

Team Bath Buccaneers’ men’s 1st XI threw away a two-goal lead as they lost 3-2 to their Fareham counterparts on Saturday 7th February.

The Buccaneers opened the scoring through a 31st-minute penalty stroke from Henry Swan and doubled their advantage with an Alex Renwick goal in the 46th minute.

However, the visitors from Hampshire levelled the England Hockey Men’s Conference West game thanks to a double from Karl Wallace.

And they grabbed a 70th-minute winner courtesy of Chris Davey, handing them a double success against Team Bath this season after a 2-1 victory at The Henry Cort Community College in October.

Team Bath women’s 1st XI also built up a two-goal lead on Saturday 7th February – but it proved enough for victory in England Hockey Women’s Conference West.

Ella Armstrong netted in the 20th minute and Tabitha Tinniswood was on target in the 35th minute to hand the Buccaneers a 2-0 lead over guests Cheltenham 1st XI.

Charli Roberts’ goal from a penalty corner in the 45th minute proved only a consolation for the Gloucestershire outfit, Team Bath prevailing 2-1.

Team Bath are second in the table, three points adrift of leaders Cardiff & Met 1st XI after 12 rounds of matches.

James Kellock hit a hat-trick from penalty corners as City of Bath men’s 1st XI continued their relentless charge towards the West Hockey West Men’s Division 2 East title by hammering visitors Bristol & West 3rd XI 10-1 on Saturday 7th February.
