Organisers of the Bath Half Marathon have announced that general entries for the 2014 race have sold out with less than three months to go.
The Bath Half never fails to sell out in advance of race day and more than 12,000 running enthusiasts and fundraisers alike have now secured their place in the event, which takes place on Sunday 2nd March.
Andrew Taylor, Race Director from Running High said: “Entries for the 2014 race have been flying in over the past few weeks and it’s good to see that people’s enthusiasm for the event, and running in general, remains as high as ever, particularly in the lead up to the festive period.
“The race continues to be popular with experienced runners who return year on year, as well as attracting many first time runners. I think this wide ranging appeal is one of the reasons why it continues to sell out every year”.
The remaining places in the event have been reserved for corporate challenge teams and official race charities.
Andrew added: “If anyone has missed out on general entries this year, they will be pleased to hear that there are still a few more chances to enter. Some of our official race charities have places available and business teams can still enter the corporate challenge.
“I would encourage people to act quickly if they would like the chance to run in March because these few remaining places will be in high demand now general entries have sold out.”
Lead race charity CoppaFeel! is one of 90 official race charities still offering places. Full details of the Bath Half’s official charities for 2014 are available on the event website, www.bathhalf.co.uk/charities.
Entries for the ever popular Corporate Challenge continue to roll in from businesses across the region. In 2013, more than 50 business teams, along with groups of their friends and family, ran the Corporate Challenge and entries for next March are now nearing capacity.
For beginners or families who want to get experience the thrill of the Bath Half in a safe, traffic-free environment, there is also the one mile Family Fun Run, which starts and finishes at the Half Marathon start line on Great Pulteney Street.
The BATHALF is the biggest half marathon in the West Country and one of the largest charity fundraising events in the region, supporting over 80 local and national charities each year.
Last year the event raised a record £2m for good causes, a total that is expected to grow again in 2014.
