University of Bath-based athletes stepped up their Aquatics GB Championships preparations by posting a plethora of fine finishes at the 2026 Edinburgh International Swim Meet.

The competition was held at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Scotland’s capital from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th March.
And there was an impressive victory for Sports Performance alumnus Joshua Gammon, who touched the wall first in the 50m butterfly (23.49 secs).
In addition, Gammon was fourth over 100m (53.26 secs) and 200m (1 min 59.82 secs).
Aquatics GB Bath Performance Centre training partner Jacob Peter came third in the 50m butterfly (23.63 secs) and fifth in the 100m (53.76 secs).
Bill Whiteley Sporting Scholar Matthew Ward was runner-up to Olympic silver medallist Duncan Scott in the 200m individual medley (2 mins 2.48 secs) and involved in some highly competitive backstroke racing against team-mates Jack Skerry and Cam Brooker, the latter two supported by US Foundation and Ivor Powell scholarships respectively.
In the 100m backstroke, Skerry came second (54.13 secs) and Brooker was third (54.54 secs).
Then Brooker (1 min 59.53 secs), Ward (2 mins 0.22 secs) and Skerry (2 mins 1.19 secs) were second, third and fourth respectively in the 200m backstroke.
And the 50m sprint saw Skerry (25.12 secs), Ward (25.18 secs) and Brooker (25.42 secs) rank third, fourth and fifth respectively.
The trio also competed in the end-of-meet relay races, Skerry leading off for the victorious Aquatics GB Red quartet in the mixed 4 x 100m medley and Brooker doing likewise in the mixed 4 x 100m freestyle.
The University of Bath Student Performance Sport squad were also well represented in Edinburgh.
Civil engineering student Niamh Ward placed fourth in the 200m backstroke (2 mins 12.94 secs) and seventh in the finals of the 50m (29.17 secs) and 100m (1 min 1.80 secs).
Sports Performance student Emily Johnson was fifth in the 1,500m freestyle (17 mins 8.23 secs) and sixth in the 800m (8 mins 58.92 secs).
And there were eighth-placed finishes for Jess Podger in the 400m freestyle (4 mins 19.66 secs) and Christian Ryan in the 200m breaststroke (2 mins 19.02 secs).
Next up are the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships – at the London Aquatics Centre from Monday 14th to Sunday 19th April – which will play a key role in selection for this summer’s European Championships and Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
