Spaces are once again available via Age UK B&NES to take part in computer classes for beginners to brush up their skills in the Bath area.
The four-week course takes place in Bath and is taught by a team of volunteers, with each pupil receiving one-to-one tuition.
The team teaches the basics and is keen to remove the fear that many people have when it comes to using computers. Areas covered include emailing, using the internet and word-processing.
Vacancies are now available, but you must contact Age UK B&NES to book your place.
Janet Dabbs from Age UK B&NES said: “Hundreds of local people have already taken part in this course. It’s incredibly popular because it is suitable for people who have little or no computing experience. Many people, even those who have computers at home are daunted by the technology or lack confidence in how to use certain facilities.
“Our tutors are here to support people, whatever level they are at and with whatever skills they want to gain. Having computer skills is becoming more and more important and can make life much easier for people, allowing them to access the information they need. It’s also a great way to keep in touch with family and friends. Using social media can open up a whole new world to people.”
There is no need to bring anything along as students can use the charity’s laptop computers; separate training is available on iPads.
One student commented: “I enjoyed the course and found everyone very friendly and helpful and I would advise anyone like me who knew nothing about computers but would like to give it a go.”
The four-week course costs £12 and takes place on a Wednesday at Age UK’s St Michaels Centre, St Michaels Place, Bath.

Age UK B&NES is a local charity that supports around 12,000 older people, their families and carers every year, with essential services.
It has a small team of staff and around 150 volunteers who assist with a variety of tasks including day care and lunch club provision, toenail cutting and home from hospital services.
