Avon and Somerset Police believe they have now identified the rightful owner of suspected stolen power tools, following an appeal for information earlier this week.
A member of the public contacted them after a number of photos of the recovered tools were posted online.
It seems the tools were stolen from Bristol in a previously unreported theft.
PC 2803 Tom Williams said: “Thank you to everyone whose comments and shares helped us trace the owner. Our enquiries continue.”
Police are taking the opportunity to remind people to permanently mark your tools and equipment with your name or business name and postcode and registering them at www.immobilise.com.
It’s also a good idea to install a sturdy, lockable cage for storing tools inside your van if you’re not able to empty it overnight.
Officers seized the items on Saturday 26th July. They believed them to have been stolen, possibly from a tradesperson’s van or a building site, in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire or Bath and North East Somerset area.
The items included a yellow Carroll and Meynell Transformer, a three foot long plaster/cement whisk, a blue metal toolbox and a blue Makita drill case containing a cordless drill and a cordless screwdriver.
