Bath’s prospective Labour MP Ollie Middleton is urging Bath residents to put the NHS first ahead of the election on Thursday, saying a second Tory term would cause serious consequences.
Middleton has said that a second Tory term would mean the stealth privatisation of the health service, more unnecessary reorganisation and longer waiting times.
In the final few days of the election campaign, Middleton said that voters have never had a bigger choice at this election than the future of our NHS, the bedrock of security for so many people in our country.
He said that a Labour government will scrap the Health and Social Care Act – voted for by Tory and Liberal Democrat MPs alike – and will put the right values back at the heart of the NHS.
Ollie said: “At this election there is a clear choice between two visions for the future of the NHS.
“We can vote for the Tories or the Lib Dems and see more privatisation, more wasted money on unnecessary reorganisation and increased waiting times, or we can vote for Labour’s plan to protect and im- prove our health service by putting people before profit”.
Ollie’s calls come on the same day doctors in the US warn that the Tories have put the NHS on a “slippery slope” to a pay-as-you-go health system.
He added: “Only Labour has a fully-funded plan to halt the drift towards a US-style system and stop the NHS from sliding backwards.
“I am more determined than ever to fight to put the right values and principles back at the heart of our health system”.
“The message at this election is clearer than ever: a vote for Labour is a vote to save the NHS”.
