Ben Howlett, the Member of Parliament for Bath, is taking on the challenge of going dry for January to raise money for the RUH Forever Friends Appeal.
He will be accompanied by a number of local Conservative councillors, including Cllr Mark Shelford who is raising money for the Royal British Legion.
Ben commented: “Many of us may have slightly overindulged in December so January is the perfect time to not drink alcohol and raise money for good causes at the same time.
“Avoiding alcohol for a month not only spreads awareness of the health benefits but also identifies the importance of the new cancer centre and the RUH Forever Friends Appeal.
“The new building will provide state of the art care, which focuses on an individualised and holistic approach. Cancer touches too many lives and this centre will help improve the experience of those suffering.”
The Forever Friends appeal fund projects that make a real difference to the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients cared for by the Royal United Hospitals each year as well as the friends and family who visit them.
Their fundraisers and donors make it possible for them to help pay for additional equipment, research and innovations, as well as finishing touches and ‘extras’ that complement the existing high quality care at the Hospitals.
