Dr Sharon Gillings has been selected by the Bath Labour Party as their candidate for the Kingsmead ward by-election on 5th July, having been a GP at St James’s Surgery since 2002.

Ms Gillings recently took over the Homeless Healthcare Service, which she runs in conjunction with Julian House. She was CEO of the not for profit, out of hours GP service in Bath for four years.

Dr Gillings said: “As someone who works in and knows the community, I understand the challenges we face. Cuts to local government are affecting our lives in many ways, from social care to bin collections.

“I will be a strong voice on the council opposing the cosy pro-austerity coalition of the Tories and Liberal Democrats.

“Labour councillors have achieved so much already this year. I’m looking forward to getting real wins for the people living in Kingsmead and showing that Labour can win in Bath.”

The by-election on Thursday 5th July has been called following the death of Councillor Chris Pearce, who passed away on Monday 30th April.

I won’t be voting for Dr Gillings. I remember her speaking for the application from St. James Surgery for council permission for a pharmacy. That campaign was underhand and dishonest, and so I am not inspired to trust her in public office.
