Local campaigner Vicky Drew has been selected as Bath Labour’s candidate for the upcoming Abbey Ward by-election on 17th November, following the decision by Green councillor Jonathan Carr to resign earlier this month.
Born and raised in Bath, Vicky Drew has a strong campaigning background.
Speaking following her selection, she said: “I’m a single, working mother of two. I have known what it’s like to be homeless and to be punished by the cruel bedroom tax.
“Inequality is an issue that gets me fired up, but I realised that the only way to make change is to get elected.
“It’s an honour to have been selected by Bath Labour as their candidate for Abbey Ward. It would be a privilege to work for local residents and I hope to join Labour councillors in B&NES to ensure that the council truly serves each and every member of our community.
“I have been involved in everything from national campaigns against welfare cuts to local campaigns for a school crossing and I want to bring that experience to fight for the residents of Abbey Ward.”
