Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for information about the theft of 36 cases of rare quality wine from a house in Corston, near Bath.

Two of the rare Champagnes stolen are not available in this country

Burglars broke in overnight on 29th August and took the boxes from the wine cellar.

They also stole a wallet containing some foreign currency and a credit card and cheque book.

The wine includes two rare Champagnes not available in this country and a vintage Bordeaux red.

Police say the thieves must have used a vehicle to transport the cases of wine, and are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious that night to contact them.

Officers are also asking wine collectors, people in the wine trade and outlets like restaurants, pubs and clubs to be on alert if they are offered wine for sale

They should call Bath police on 101 quoting crime reference number 86117/13.

Police are looking into the possibility that the burglary is linked to another theft of wine from Belmont Road in November last year, but there is no evidence to suggest that the two are connected. There is also nothing to suggest that both properties were targeted because of their wine collections.
