A woman was airlifted to a major trauma centre in Bristol last night after falling from a window of a building near the Royal Crescent in Bath.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 10pm to reports that somebody had fallen into the basement area of a property on Rivers Street.
Avon Fire and Rescue were brought in to assist in the rescue of the woman, who is believed to have fallen around three metres.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance was sent to the scene and landed on the grass at the Royal Crescent while the rescue was taking place.
The woman suffered life threatening head and chest injuries and was anaesthetised at the scene by a Critical Care Doctor.
They were then transferred by the air ambulance to Southmead major trauma centre in Bristol for treatment.
She remains in a critical condition.
It is believed a police investigation into the incident has begun. No more information has yet been made public.
