The delightful courtyards at Milsom Place are now recognised as Bath’s centre for al fresco dining with the greatest concentration of outdoor seating in the city.

Guests can enjoy a Salad Nicoise and glass of rose at Cote Brasserie; a delicious bowl of freshly made pasta from Carluccio’s or admire the rooftops of Bath from Jamie’s Italian. If the green spaces are calling, pack a picnic from Carluccio’s and enjoy a true taste of Italy.

Carluccio’s spills out onto the courtyard so make the most of the sunshine and catch the flavours of the Mediterranean. Sharing boards of anti-pasta are stacked with special treats and then follow with a delicate dish of homemade ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta or Zuppa de Pesce bulging with flavours of the sea.

With seasonal specials like Vichyssoise or Asparagus to tempt your taste buds Cote Brasserie offers fabulous French food at great value with a set price lunch and early evening menu. The menu has summery options like Warm Tiger Prawn Salad and Tuna Nicoise as well as French classics like Steak Frites and Duck Confit.

At Jamie’s Italian discover the new summer menu featuring Crispy Soft Shell Crab and Superfood Salad packed with goodness, or Jamie’s Ultimate Sharing Plank, always a favourite for those who cannot decide as it comes laden with a bit of everything – all the things that Jamie’s Italian does so well. The set menu includes a glass of Prosecco and three delicious courses including Crispy King Prawns and Jamie’s Must Try Gnudi ; the lightest Westcombe ricotta dumplings with sage, lemon and Parmesan butter followed by Raspberry & Chocolate Rippled Pavlova.

The balcony at Jamie’s Italian has one of the best views of the Bath rooftops but don’t tell everyone or you will not get your favourite table.

Caluccio’s deli brings the colours and flavours of the Italian summer into your kitchen with wonderful selection of Italian style salads, pasta dishes, charcuterie and freshly baked breads.

Priced at £45, each Carluccio’s hamper serves two and contains generous portions of regional Italian dishes, made fresh on the day and presented in a smart and reusable cool-bag. Order in advance and simply collect on the day.

The ‘classic’ hamper features a complete three course meal for two.  Starters include a selection of mixed olives; homemade zesty lemon and thyme focaccia; and savoury tarts with spinach, pecorino and pine nuts. Follow with corn-fed chicken supreme with parsley and pancetta served with a potato, olive and saffron salad on the side. For further indulgence, enjoy a Ferreto pasta salad with oven-roasted vegetables and a pesto dressing along with a fresh and zingy green bean, cannellini, farro and rocket salad. Individual strawberry tarts and Italian biscuits from Piedmonte will end the perfect picnic.

A ‘vegetarian’ option offers many of the dishes from the classic hamper, as well as tasty beefsteak tomatoes stuffed with farro, lemon and spring onion, served with a saffron potato and olive salad.

To make a real occasion of it, add a bottle of zesty and lively Alastro white wine for £12.50, a Prosecco Brut for £14.75, or pick up your favourite bottle from Carluccio’s shop.

Treat the bambini to their very own individual picnic for £10, packed full of fuss-free and healthy food. Each picnic is packed in its own individual box and features slices of mild Milanese salami, celery and carrot sticks, crunchy maize breadsticks, tuna mayonnaise for dipping and a delicious pizzette. A tasty dish of beef and aubergine meatballs in a chunky tomato sauce will prove a hit so hands off parents! To finish, a chocolate sponge bear with smartie buttons should keep the kids happy, whilst a piece of fresh fruit and freshly squeezed juice ensures they’ll get some of their five a day.

Pick up your own bespoke picnic at the buzzing Jamie’s Deli where you can mix and match delicious salads like spicy couscous with pomegranate, herbs and lemon or roasted beetroot with balsamic feta and toasted walnut or go for a satisfying sandwich like falafel, harissa, spiked humous, marinated Peppers and tzatziki…. And to follow a generous slice of Lemon Drizzle cake or Eton Mess Heavenly Slice (without the mess).

Celebrate picnic season with a brand new range of al fresco dining accessories from Cath Kidston. Inspired by childhood day trips to safari parks, the safari print features zebras, elephants, lions and giraffes. Products include the safari filled backpack containing all your picnic essentials, cosy safari check blanket, and the classic melamine accessories and a safari flask.

Sushi is always light and refreshing so gather a box of delight from Yo! Sushi of their signature Sashimi or a selection of freshly made items to share with friends. Eating at Yo! Sushi is always sociable and satisfying with so much to choose from.

And if you want to do it in style with a shiny new ice bucket to chill down the fizz or a cocktail shaker we recommend Alessi at Quadri.

Milsom Place with its collection of stylish shops and restaurants is just off bustling Milsom Street, the main retail artery in Bath.
