Avon and Somerset Police have arrested a 35-year-old man this afternoon after a woman was assaulted outside Lloyds Bank on Milsom Street.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Police officers were called to Milsom Street following reports of two people having an argument.

When they arrived, the man fled the scene and officers pursued him to Gay Street.

He is currently being questioned in custody.

The 27-year-old woman involved suffered injuries to her head, mouth and nose, and was taken by ambulance to the RUH.

A small area around Lloyds Bank remains cordoned off due to a small amount of blood on the pavement.
