Churches in Peasedown and Wellow have announced plans for two children’s holiday clubs this summer – all to ensure that children and families have plenty of activities to choose from.
The first is the Peasedown Christians Together Splash Holiday Club. The week will be full of games, crafts, music, video presentations and stories as children learn about the biblical tales from the Sea of Galilee.
Rob Bubyer, the children’s pastor at St John’s Church is hosting the three-day event. He said; ‘‘I’m really looking forward to this year’s holiday club. It will be great fun, we’ll learn a lot and it would be fantastic if lots of children came along.
“We will also be joined by our football in the community coach to run our games sessions each morning and during the afternoon.”
The holiday club runs from Wednesday 30th July to Friday 1st August, 9am each day, at St John’s Church and is open to children aged 5-11 in school years 1-6 (from September 2014). Parents can register children on the St J’s Group website at www.stjsgroup.org/splash.
Also, for the first time this year, there will be a special Splash family service at St John’s Church on Sunday 3rd August at 10.30am. It will be a chance for parents and carers to come along and find out what their children have been doing during the week.
Later in August, St Julian’s Church in Wellow will be hosting a five-day Champions Challenge event at St Julian’s Primary School. Run by the Football in the Community coach Andy Stockinger, highlights include games, activities and competitions. He commented:
“Churches in Peasedown and Wellow are providing activities for children throughout the school holidays. Our summer clubs are in addition to the work we are also doing in local primary schools to educate and enthuse children with our after-school clubs and regular assemblies.
There is something for everyone this summer. Come along to find out more.”
The Champion’s Challenge Holiday Club is also for children in school years 1-7 (from September 2014) and will feature sports, craft and teaching.
It will run from 18th– 22nd August inclusive, 8.45 am – 3 pm each day.
