The winners of the annual local library short story competition have been announced, with the event proving as popular as ever with high quality work being sent in.
The theme for the 2014 competition was ‘Noir’ and it was run as part of the regular ‘Story Friday’ events organised by this year’s partner organisations ‘A Word in Your Ear’ and ‘Kilter’.
The winning stories from entrants who hadn’t submitted to Story Fridays previously were:
- John Reynolds for his story ‘Between Trains’
- ‘The Blank’ by Kate Simants
Cllr David Dixon, (Lib-Dem, Oldfield) Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “We had a really good response to the competition with over 40 entries and an excellent standard of writing.
“The competition was again sponsored by the Bath Chronicle, for which we are greatly appreciative.”
All the winning stories will be read at the November Story Fridays event on Friday 7th November at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm) in Burdall’s Yard (off London Road, Bath).
This reading of brand new stories (read by local writers and performers) will be followed by a screening of the classic Noir Film: The Third Man.
Tickets cost £4 and are available on the door.
