Various options are being explored to prevent the closure of Beaumonds in Rush Hill, which provides overnight care for children and young adults to help them gain independent living skills and provide respite for their families.
Following the news that the the facility is set to close due to issues with the charity Quarriers that runs it, Bath MP Ben Howlett met the team at Beaumonds, taking Council Leader, Tim Warren with him.
Ben also met with a Director from Quarriers and has spoken with the Children’s Service Health & Commissioning team at Bath and North East Somerset Council to try and secure the long term future of Beaumonds.
The Health & Commissioning team said: “We appreciate concerns from parent carers and Beaumonds Staff. As you are aware we are doing everything we can to ensure the service is maintained as best as possible and we are meeting we the provider to see how we can ensure this happens and explore the various options. Once we have a clearer position we will share this with the families.”
Ben said: “I will continue to do what I can to find a way to secure the future of this respite centre here in Bath and to ensure that the great quality care the children and adults receive at Beaumonds continues.
“I hope that it will be possible to find a way to retain this facility in Bath and a rapid resolution secured to end the current uncertainty for families and staff at Beaumonds.”
