New data has revealed that 12% of people who tried to make an appointment to see their GP in Bath and North East Somerset didn’t get one.
The figures, from NHS England, also show that over 26,000 residents across the region were forced to wait over a month to see a doctor.
12% of people said they were unable to see a GP or nurse the last time they tried to make an appointment.
Previously, there was a target of getting a GP appointment within 48 hours, however this was scrapped by the Government.
Metro Mayor Dan Norris said: “It’s a real struggle for some people to see their GP, and people are spending hours on the phone, and then being told nothing is available for weeks.
“When I was an MP in the last Labour government, I was proud that we guaranteed a GP appointment within 48 hours.
“Our NHS is Britain’s greatest asset but the Conservatives are running it into the ground.”
