People in Bath will have the opportunity to put their questions to experts and find out a little more about dementia when the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Community Roadshow rolls into the city next week.
The national tour will be stopping off in Stall Street from 10am to 4pm on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th June, as it aims to increase local awareness and understanding of the condition which affects an estimated 2,600 people in Bath and North East Somerset.
Offering free information and advice, it is open to people currently living with dementia, who are worried about a friend or relative’s memory or who just have questions to ask. No appointment is needed.
Marco Van-Tintelen, Services Manager for Alzheimer’s Society said: “Dementia doesn’t care who you are; it could affect us all. It’s set to be the 21st century’s biggest killer, with someone developing it every three minutes, and so many people are facing it alone.
“This can mean that people who are worried about dementia, or simply want to find out more, may not know where to turn.
“Our Dementia Community Roadshow is the perfect way to get information and support out to people who need it. We’re here to provide people with information about where to get help and encourage those with concerns about their memory to visit their GP.”
Since its launch in 2011, the Roadshow has reached more than 185,000 people across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and provided valuable support and information.
