A lease to improve and modernise toilet facilities at Alice Park has been approved as part of a £3.3 million contract to improve public conveniences across the area.

Toilets across the area were at risk of closure.

The lease to Healthmatic Ltd will also provide comprehensive cleaning and management services for fifteen years.

Councillor Paul Crossley (Lib-Dem, Southdown), Leader of Council, said: “The Council is working hard to get the balance right between offering high quality, well placed public conveniences and an affordable proposition for local taxpayers in the long-term.

“Alice Park is one of thirteen existing public conveniences being modernised serving parks, play areas, green spaces and key transport hubs.”

The next stage of the Council’s refurbishment of public toilets will be the overhaul of Monmouth Street and Odd Down Park & Ride due to take place over the next month.
