A project is underway from Bath & North East Somerset Council to offer free cycling lessons to any adult who lives, works or studies in the local area.

The lessons are run by experienced trainers from the company Cycling Instructor and are aimed at helping adults get back on their bikes and feel more confident in the saddle.

The scheme offers two-hour one-to-one lessons which can be arranged for any place on any day of the week, with equipment provided by the Council. These lessons are tailored to all abilities, whether you are new to cycling or have been cycling for years.

Basic training includes important key points such as brake control, accurate steering and left and right hand signalling, whereas more advanced training improves confidence with complex junctions and busy roads.

Cllr Caroline Roberts (Lib-Dem, Newbridge), Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “The trainers are friendly, knowledgeable and give you the opportunity to build your confidence on a bike.

“The sessions are easy to enjoy and you are guaranteed to learn a lot. Bath & North East Somerset Council strongly recommends people take up this positive opportunity which can improve your physical wellbeing, and help you get back in the saddle!”
