A man was taken to hospital this morning after being rescued by firefighters from a flat fire in Bath in which his clothes caught alight.
Three crews from Bath Fire Station were called after neighbours in a four storey property in Burlington Street reported smoke coming from one of the flats and could hear someone still inside.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus made their way to the second floor flat in the converted house.
Once inside they found a man in his 30s with burns to his legs which had been caused by a small fire.
It’s believed the man was using a hot air paint stripper inside the flat when his clothes were accidentally set alight.
Fire crews rescued him from the property, before passing him into the care of paramedics who treated his injuries.
He was later taken to hospital for further treatment, although his condition was not thought to be life-threatening.
