Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed that a person has died after a body was spotted in the River Avon near Bathampton Mill earlier this morning.

Officers were called shortly after 7.20am this morning to reports of the discovery near the Bathampton Mill.

Fire crews were brought in from Bath’s Fire Station, and Hick’s Gate in Keynsham, along with the specialist water rescue team, to recover the body from the water.
