The M4 near Bath has been reopened in both directions after a serious collision closed it for more than six hours on Tuesday afternoon, 26th March.
The incident happened on the westbound carriageway of the M4 near junction 18 at around 1pm.
Two air ambulances attended the scene, with the Wiltshire Air Ambulance taking a patient to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
National Highways put a strategic diversion route in place.

Speaking as they were dealing with the incident, Avon & Somerset Police said: “The closure is expected to remain in place for some time. Please avoid the area.”
A spokesperson for Avon Fire & Rescue Service said: “We were called just after 1pm today (Tuesday 26 March) to a road traffic collision on the M4 between junctions 18 (Bath) and 19 (Bristol).”
Motorists on the M4 Eastbound are being diverted off at junction 19 (M32).
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 13.02hrs to a road traffic incident near Yate.
“We sent five double-crewed land ambulances, two operations officers, two critical care cars, two air ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and a hazardous area response team.”
