An art auction, organised by Bath Spa University and held at The Bath Spa Gainsborough Hotel, has been hailed a huge success with over £3,000 raised for art and design students.

The art auction, Corsham52, was named after a group of artists who are former students of the Bath Academy of Art, now part of Bath Spa University’s Bath school of Art and Design.

The artists, including photographer Simon Farrell, donated various works to sell at the auction including paintings, ceramics, carvings and sculptures.

The evening started at the 44AD Gallery in Abbey Street, Bath, where the works were on display for the general public and special guests to view before heading to the auction.

Both the gallery and the auction were attended by hundreds of people, including students from the University.

The money raised will go towards scholarships and grants, to help students with material or travel costs so they can fulfil their potential whilst studying at Bath Spa University.

Naomi Box, Development Manager at Bath Spa University said: “The Corsham52 event was a very special evening.

“We had a huge variety of unique artworks available from a group of extremely talented artists, and we were delighted to raise thousands of pounds for our art and design students.”
