Ben Knight, the Student Accommodation Administrator at Bath Spa University, has won a prestigious prize for his dedication to his role in the student accommodation team.

Ben, age 23, and originally from Dartford in Kent, won the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) New Professional award, organised by CUBO (College and University Business Officers).

The ACUHO-I believe in developing exceptional residential experiences at colleges, universities, and other post-secondary institutions across the world.

Ben who is a Bath Spa University graduate and studied music between 2012 and 2015, was a clear favourite with the judges for the passion and energy that he commits to his role, which came through strongly in the entry.

Ben is part of Bath Spa University’s accommodation team and plays important role in ensuring students have a great living experience while studying at Bath Spa.

The University are committed to ensuring that students receive a wide range of quality accommodation options to suit their needs. Whether they are seeking an en-suite bathroom, a quieter study environment or a central location in Bath.

Ben’s prize is a fully funded trip to the ACUHO-I annual conference which takes place in Rhode Island in America this June.

Ben said: “As a graduate of Bath Spa University, I enjoy working in a role where I have the opportunity to give back and support current students.

“I am honoured to be receiving this award and look forward to meeting accommodation professionals from across the world during my time at the conference in Rhode Island.”

Rob Armstrong-Haworth, Director of Corporate and External Relations at Bath Spa University who nominated Ben for the award, said: “I am delighted that Ben has been selected as winner for the ACUHO-I New Professional Award 2017.

“Here at Bath Spa University we actively encourage our students and staff to become global citizens – to learn new ways of working in different cultures and countries across the globe – and Ben’s trip to America will be the perfect opportunity for him to gain valuable experience to bring back and share with our team.”

The jointly sponsored ACUHO-I and CUBO award is a development opportunity for new professionals working in student housing. Entrants are required to have fewer than five years’ experience in student housing.
